A Tiny change to boost business by 8%
A Surprising Effect of Price Presentation on Sales
I was fascinated by this amazing bit of research on customer buying behaviors. Cornell University researchers discovered that by removing the dollar sign from restaurant menus (ie. showing the price as 12 vs $12) they increased average purchases by 8%! When you think about it, it stands to reason. The more we see dollar signs the more we become conscious of cost. What does that mean for your business? What if rather than listing a price as $7,000.00, you simply wrote 7k? For something as simple as removing a dollar sign the impact can be significant.
