Conveying Professional Pride without Bragging
As you picture yourself shopping at a farmers’ market, compare which of these two offers tweaks more of your interest. One vendor, while offering you a sample from a tray of jams, says, “Please try this strawberry jam.” The second vendor holding a similar tray says, “Please try my strawberry jam.” All things being the same, the jam from the second tray will taste better – not because of the flavor, but because it was served with implied ownership and professional pride. Not bad results for changing one word.
