Honesty – Point out Your Product’s Weaknesses

Too often, salespeople believe that they should gloss over any flaws in their products and services. Ironically, pointing out your weaknesses is often a great way of building trust and generating sales. Soon after graduating from university, I attempted to sell the ‘old beater’ I’d been driving. My classified ad described the low priced car as being in very good condition. Result – not one call. Upon the advice of my Dad, I changed the ad to read, “needs new muffler.” Result – numerous calls and sold the car in 3 days.
