Here’s a customer service tip from one of my wonderful clients that is so brilliant I’m just going to pass it along as he sent it to me…
“One of my favorite lines with customers is ‘I’ll call you back in 15 minutes’. If they ask for something and I feel like I know the answer, it still gives me time to think or check with others. I can then call them back and say, ‘Yes we can do it, I jumped through hoops and moved people around’. I knew it was a yes before, but this also makes them realize I worked hard for them. On the other hand, even if I know I can’t do something, this pause allows me to call them back and say that I can’t do it this time, I tried to move things around but its not possible. Instead of saying ‘no’ immediately, it shows we have tried to accommodate and weren’t able to. 15 minutes is nothing to a customer, and I find they appreciate the effort that went into a decision.”
