Pointing out you’re not on Commission
Building Trust in Sales
The manager of the clothing store was definitely earning my trust. He began by asking about where I’d be wearing the clothes and my style preferences. Then he created an ensemble that looked great. He seemed to enjoy helping me. At one point he mentioned, “I’m the manager – I don’t get commissions. I just get a kick out of doing this.” Result – amazing trust, a huge sale, and a customer anxious to return. If you’re in sales and aren’t on commission, then mentioning it in passing enhances your influence.
