Really, believe me – Avoid These Credibility Killers

Avoid These Credibility Killers When Speaking with Customers

Have you ever caught yourself beginning a statement with a phrase like, “The truth is…” “Honest…” “I really mean this..”, or “Believe me…”?

They all essentially announce that we are about to tell the truth – implying that everything we’ve said up till that point has been a lie! While these types of statements may seem harless, they tend to hurt rather than help our credibility.

The best way to avoid sending these mixed messages is just omit these prefaces and say what’s on your mind.
